Industry expert Deuchert joins the management of Kyon Energy - his goal: Increasing supply security through energy storage

Kyon Energy is pleased (as of July 1) to have won Benedikt Deuchert, a true industry expert and flexibility expert, as a new addition to the company management. Deuchert, who made a name for himself in a previous position at the consulting firm E-Bridge Consulting with topics related to making the German electricity market more flexible, will be responsible for Business Development and Regulatory Affairs in the future. He is thus directly following on his work on, among other things, the development of the German 'Redispatch 2.0' regime for congestion management.

Under the mission statement "Use instead of regulation," he calls for a regulatory framework to store renewable energy economically and thus be able to better integrate it into the networks. In his opinion, the current regulation is not working for storage systems. He comments on this:

"From today's perspective, battery storage systems are the most economical option for bringing urgently needed flexibility to the grids in the short term. Market players must finally be given an incentive to be able to offer this flexibility to local networks. "

It is now necessary to take bold action in legislation and regulation in order to implement the market-based procedure for congestion management required by European law nationally. The new storage definition in the EnWG creates new leeway for the introduction of storage as opposed to the cost-based process for producers.

The management team at Kyon Energy is convinced that Deuchert's entry comes at just the right time, as one of the managing directors Florian Antwerpen points out: "We are currently seeing how large, grid-connected battery storage systems are now becoming socially acceptable in Germany as well. The regulatory framework must keep pace with this dynamic development. Benedikt Deuchert will ensure that storage systems can develop new, innovative business models. "He adds that, particularly in view of the geopolitical upheavals, all players must pull together. "Kyon Energy is currently making advance payments and will connect a significant amount of battery storage systems to the grid by the end of the year. However, security of supply will only be strengthened if the flexibility from our batteries provides the right framework to be able to react optimally to market and network developments. "
