The battery storage project in Weener, in the district of Leer (Ems), has an output of 20.7 MW and a gross storage capacity of 42 MWh. The battery storage system is used to provide system services (in particular primary control power), as well as to generate revenue from optimization on the spot market and from avoided network charges (§ 18 StromNEV) and is connected to the EWE Netz GmbH network.
