The battery storage project in Bad Düben has an output of 13.8 MW and a large storage capacity of 15.2 MWh. Samsung SDI battery cells are used. The battery storage system is used to provide system services (in particular primary control power), as well as to generate revenue from optimization on the spot market and avoided network charges (§ 18 StromNEV) and is connected to the network of the Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Strom mbH. The plant, which was completed and commissioned in 2022, was sold to Obton and has been operated by them ever since.
