The battery storage project in Bad Düben has an output of 13.8 MW and a gross storage capacity of 15.2 MWh. Battery cells from Samsung SDI are used. The battery storage system will be used to provide system services (in particular primary control power), as well as to generate revenue from optimization on the spot market and from avoided grid charges (Section 18 StromNEV) and is connected to the grid of Mitteldeutsche Netzgesellschaft Strom mbH. The plant, which was completed and commissioned in 2022, was sold to Obton and has been operated by them since then.
