The battery storage project in Alfeld, in the district of Hildesheim, has a capacity of 137.5 MW and a gross storage capacity of 275 MWh. The battery storage system is used to provide system services (in particular primary control power), as well as to generate revenue from optimization on the spot market and from avoided grid charges (Section 18 StromNEV) and is connected to the grid of Avacon Netz GmbH. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2026.
