The battery storage project in Iphofen, in the district of Kitzingen, has an output of 20.7 MW and a gross storage capacity of 24 MWh. Battery cells from LG Chem are used. The battery storage system is used to provide system services (in particular primary control power), as well as to generate revenue from optimization on the spot market and from avoided grid charges (Section 18 StromNEV) and is connected to the grid of N-Ergie Netz GmbH. The plant, which was completed and commissioned in 2022, was sold to VERBUND and has been operated by them since then.
